Gounod Requiem

According to Wikipedia: "In 1893, shortly after he had put the finishing touches to a requiem written for his grandson, he died of a stroke in Saint-Cloud, France."  According to Peter Tiboris, Music Director of MidAmerica Productions: "On Charles Gounod’s death, his requiem was performed at La Madeleine with Gabriel Fauré conducting, Camille Saint-Saens playing the organ and Giuseppe Verdi in the audience!"

Here is one of several renditions of the compete Requiem found on YouTube.  This version follows the Carus edition of the vocal score which is the version that will be used for the Paris concert at La Madeleine on June 12th.  The audio quality is quite good and the diction is clear (but with a Scandinavian accent.)

Here are the individual movements from another YouTube recording:
Here are the individual movements taken from the Choral Public Domain Library (see: http://www2.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Requiem_(1893)_(Charles_Gounod) ):

Below are 4 sets sets of practice aids for the Gounod Requiem: one set each for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass voices.  These were derived from the CPDL "midi" set of tracks above.  In each movement, the specified voice has been isolated, amplified and emphasized in the "right" side of the stereo stream.  The piano reduction and the other 3 voices are slightly muted and placed in the left-hand side of the stereo stream.  Note these tracks will help you learn the notes and rhythms of the individual vocal parts.  However these tracks do not follow the dynamics of the score.  To work on the dynamics and pronunciation of the text use the choral and orchestral recording above.

Below are practice tracks of the six movements of this Requiem derived from two sources: (1) a YouTube video and (2) a set of "midi" (electronic keyboard) tracks for each of the movements from the CPDL.
You can play these tracks directly on your computer. You can download the tracks to play them in a music application such as iTunes, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, etc., or make your own CDs.  You can also download CPDL's version of the vocal score. Note: Cyberbass does not have tracks for the Gounod Requiem.
