For the WVC Members

WVC at Hudson River Renegades, 8/28, Wappingers Falls.

Take me out to the ball game: August 28, 2022, 2:00 pm. WVC members will be singing our national anthem and God Bless America at Dutchess Stadium, Wappinger Falls, NY, before and at the 7th inning stretch of a baseball game of the Hudson Valley Renegades.

See map for location and directions.

Tickets are $15 a person; you may also bring friends and family with that price. A ticket includes a Renegades hat. Children 3 and under that can sit on someone's lap are free.

Email from VP Melissa Tidd, June 30:

"Hi, everyone!

Happy summer! I have some updates regarding the upcoming Renegades game!

1) Update (8/11) => We will have a rehearsal on Tuesday, August 23 at 7:30 pm, at the Warwick Reformed Church.

2) There is no specific dress code for that day.

3) Even though the game starts at 2:05, they ask that we all arrive by 1pm so we can get scanned in and set for the performance. I will probably hang out at the front gate for a bit.

4) Although our "final" count and payment is due 3 weeks before the game (August 7), they said they could still add people that still wouldn't know by that time if they can attend leading up to the day of the game. I know a few of you are in that boat. So that can still give you opportunity if you can make it (although I would still like to know a little bit in advance if possible. 🙂 ).

5) The theme for that day is "Family Fundays". You can bring your dogs to the event and kids get to run around the bases after the game!

6) I am still not sure I had a full email list so feel free to reach out to your Chorale friends and neighbors to make sure they received this information (although I'm pretty sure I have everyone who has reached out to me so far).

7) Reminder that it is $15 per person (which you can give to me after the fact if that works better for you). Right now, I am more concerned with a head count.

I believe that is it for now. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Again, happy summer!

Melissa" (

WVC's Summer 2022 season:

Visits to local nursing homes and retirement centers.

On July 12th and 19th, about a dozen members of the Warwick Valley Chorale visited six area nursing homes and retirement centers. Led by conductor, Dennis English, and accompanied by Gail Johnson, the WVC group performed the following program at each of the facilities:

The Star-Spangled Banner

Give My Regards to Broadway

Nelly Bly

Over the Rainbow

Oh! Susanna

Irving Berlin's America - entire medley, including God Bless America

There were many expressions of appreciation from the residents and staff for the show - being the first time since the start of the Covid pandemic that an outside group had entertained them.

Retaining Your Music:

  1. If you will be singing at the baseball game on Aug. 28, bring The Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America.

Please return your music when the WVC starts up its Fall 2022 season in September.

Two of our favorite Gwyneth Walker songs:

Email from President Zoey Savale, Dec. 13, 2021:

"Hi everyone - What a couple of splendid concerts! I love watching our members all pull together (on stage and off) to make music. There were quite literally so many individual members who did extra work that I don't have room to mention them all here... but please know that each of you was noticed, and deeply appreciated, for all those extra tasks that you did so well, and for your beautiful voices. Amazing!"

Note from Accompanist Gail Johnson, Dec 13, 2021:

"Dear WVC Members,

You were wonderful last night! It's great to be able to SEE you! I always have a front row seat to HEAR you, but have never had the pleasure to watch you until now!

I also want to thank you for the gifts presented to me after the concert; the gorgeous Peace Lily, the stunning wooden serving platter, the festive bottle of wine, the two precious snowflake ornaments (Silent Snowfall!), and the generous gift certificate to Delancey's Restaurant.

I truly miss our Summer Soirees and whole-heartedly hope we can get together this year!

Wishing you all a Joyful Holiday Season!

One of WVC's favorite composers, John Rutter, on "the Importance of Choir"

The WVC has performed many of Mr. Rutter's works in our concerts in Orange County. Also many members of the WVC were privileged to have been conducted by John Rutter at Carnegie Hall in 2006.

To celebrate their 75th anniversary, the WVC commissioned America's favorite composer, Gwyneth Walker, for this arrangement of Down to the River to Pray, which was premiered at their December 2015 concerts.

We practiced and made it back - May 2010, May 2016, April 2018, and June 2019!
