What should we wear for the Spring concerts?

Men’s dress for our Spring concerts is black tuxedo or black sport jacket and slacks with white shirt (black bow tie, black socks & shoes; jackets should be buttoned).

For women, a floor-length black dress or a floor- length black skirt and blouse, long-sleeved or 3⁄4 length-sleeved; black stockings, comfortable black shoes, no eye-catching jewelry or anything else that would draw the audience’s attention to you.

Everyone also will need a black music folder.

Is it okay to wear cologne to performances?

Please, no! We have members with a variety of allergies, so please don’t wear cologne, perfume, strong aftershave, scented hairspray, or anything else that might make the singer behind you wheeze or sneeze. Deodorant, however, is recommended.

WVC's post-season pot luck dinner, Tuesday, May 24th.

The potluck supper will be Tuesday 5/24, 7:00 pm, at the St. Stephen/St. Edward School's cafeteria. The school is next to the church. This is the same place we have had the potluck in the past.

Family members or friends are welcome to join you. Remember to bring a ready-to-serve dish of your choice. We don't have use of the ovens or range to cook things. As always, we don't use the cafeteria's plates, bowls, cutlery etc., so you will need to pack those, too.

Chorale will provide coffee and tea (and milk, sugar & other sweeteners), but other beverages are up to you. (No alcoholic beverages, please.)

If you have a question about the potluck, see Marie Ruebenstahl, who is in charge of it.

COVID Policy for attending the WVC concerts.

During performances, the Warwick Valley Chorale asks that audience members follow NYS guidelines for COVID safety as well as those of the individual venue: Masks are required for unvaccinated persons, and highly recommended for vaccinated persons. Please maintain social distancing, although family groups may sit together without distancing.

For rehearsals Covid Protocols are in place - until further notice.

A Look Back at WVC's Fall 2021 Season

WVC in concert at St. Stephen RC Church on Dec. 12, 2021.

to download, print or forward this holiday concert flier see the "View ..." box below.

Email from President Zoey Savale, Dec. 13, 2021:

"Hi everyone - What a couple of splendid concerts! I love watching our members all pull together (on stage and off) to make music. There were quite literally so many individual members who did extra work that I don't have room to mention them all here... but please know that each of you was noticed, and deeply appreciated, for all those extra tasks that you did so well, and for your beautiful voices. Amazing!"

Note from Accompanist Gail Johnson, Dec 13, 2021:

"Dear WVC Members,

You were wonderful last night! It's great to be able to SEE you! I always have a front row seat to HEAR you, but have never had the pleasure to watch you until now!

I also want to thank you for the gifts presented to me after the concert; the gorgeous Peace Lily, the stunning wooden serving platter, the festive bottle of wine, the two precious snowflake ornaments (Silent Snowfall!), and the generous gift certificate to Delancey's Restaurant.

I truly miss our Summer Soirees and whole-heartedly hope we can get together this year!

Wishing you all a Joyful Holiday Season!

One of WVC's favorite composers, John Rutter, on "the Importance of Choir"

The WVC has performed many of Mr. Rutter's works in our concerts in Orange County. Also many members of the WVC were privileged to have been conducted by John Rutter at Carnegie Hall in 2006.

To celebrate their 75th anniversary, the WVC commissioned America's favorite composer, Gwyneth Walker, for this arrangement of Down to the River to Pray, which was premiered at their December 2015 concerts.

We practiced and made it back - May 2010, May 2016, April 2018, and June 2019!
