On Sunday, Dec. 7th, WVC members can return to the West Point Cadet Chapel to sing in their annual Messiah concert.
(Updated info on this concert will be posted here as it becomes available.)
Members of the WVC have again been invited to participate in the annual Messiah Concert at the West Point Cadet Chapel on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025 at 4pm (tbc). This is always a popular activity for WVC members. Singers from choruses all around the area join to form a choir of over 100 and sing out this traditional Christmas favorite. The concert, which will cover Part I of the oratorio plus the Hallelujah Chorus, begins at 3:30 pm and is free to the public. The concert "will proceed in any kind of weather – rain, snow, ice or shine!" You will have to bring your own copy of the score.
The chorus call (the time to be in place in the choir section of the chapel) is typically 2:15 pm in order to have a quick rehearsal prior to the performance. [Note, your webmeister highly recommends that you plan on arriving at the Cadet Chapel before 1:30 pm in order to secure a good seat in the choir section (first come, first chair) and to have a hope of finding a parking spot near the chapel. You can relax and listen to the soloists and orchestra rehearse their parts.]
Dress will be black and white (or dark and light) – dark skirts and light blouses for women; and dark suits (or sports jackets) with white shirts and dark ties for men.
Consider entering the academy grounds either at the Stony Gate (Stony Lonesome Rd. at Route 9W) or the Thayer Gate (near The Thayer Hotel at the north end of village of Highland Falls). At the gates tell the guards that you will be going to the Cadet Chapel to sing in the Messiah concert.
