It's important that all WVC singers planning on participating in this concert mark their calendars (now) that on May 22, 23, and 24, we will be going to New York City to rehearse and perform.
While detailed schedule and other pertinent information will be coming later in the Spring, based on past experiences we can forecast what a possible schedule may be:
Thursday, May 22: 3-4 hour rehearsal during the morning or afternoon with the conductor
and all participating choruses at a venue in Manhattan such as a hotel, a school or
church facility.
Friday, May 23: rehearsal, same as the previous day.
Saturday, May 24: in the morning, the dress rehearsal on stage in Carnegie Hall,
perhaps a small break for lunch,
report at noon or so to the assigned "green room" inside Carnegie Hall for line up
prior to going on-stage.
Proceed to the stage.
Concert at 1:00 pm.
Around 2:00 pm at intermission we will proceed to assigned seats in the theatre
to enjoy the 2nd half of the concert which features:
MOZART - Selections from Vesperae solennes de confessore and
VIVALDI - Selections from Gloria in D Major (sorry, no singing from the
audience!)
At the end of the concert, the bus riders will proceed to the bus for the
return trip to Warwick, celebrating with WVC's traditional,
sensational post-concert party!
******************
It's important that all who intend on performing in this concert make it to all of the rehearsals listed above!
Transportation to/from rehearsals and the concert: There are several options:
WVC's Treasurer, Amelia DiCarlo, is arranging bus transportation to/from Warwick Town Hall (132 Kings Hwy, Warwick, NY 10990) and the rehearsal and performance venues.
Make your own transportation arrangements.
Stay in Manhattan for the long weekend.
Etc.
The attire for the performance in Carnegie Hall is the same as what we will be wearing for the WVC concerts in mid-May. There is very limited room in the green rooms at Carnegie Hall for storing performance attire and for changing. Most performers find it convenient to wear their concert attire all day on the day of the performance.
The music scores will be in a black folder.

Some considerations:
° Concert dress is what you wear for your local concerts. However, there are some restrictions:
° Please do not wear sparkling jewels on stage. The stage lights reflecting off your jewelry will cause visual distractions to the audience.
° Because of the closeness of the performers, please do not wear hair spray or cologne.
° Please be sure to turn off all beeping watches and cell phones.
° Because there is a good deal of walking and standing on the day of the dress rehearsal and performance, it is very important to wear comfortable shoes!
